GENERAL DESCRIPTION
BATCHPLT is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) used to assist the user
in plotting a batch of drawings using AutoCAD version 10 286/386 or
Version 11 286/386 to a CalComp plotter.
BATCHPLT 2.0 has several enhancements over the past versions.
Graphical User Interface (GUI). With the advent of the MacIntosh
and Windows, GUI's are becoming the norm. This method allows for
a simple and effective method of communications between the user
and the program.
Mouse Support. BATCHPLT can use a MicroSoft serial or bus mouse.
Plotter pen support. BATCHPLT allows the user to download pen
definitions with the plot and also map AutoCAD's colors to
different plotter pens.
Rotation. BATCHPLT allows the user to rotate the plot in order
to save plotter paper.
Plotter specific configurations. BATCHPLT supports all of the
current CalComp plotters and adjusts it's operation to best
utilize the plotter's capabilities.
Copies. If your plotter is capable of accepting the CCGL copy
command it is sent once and multiple copies will be produced.
Nesting enhancements.
The method of nesting plots has been enhanced to allow
nesting without ever leaving AutoCAD. This will speed up
the process of generating the drawings in a nest.
BATCHPLT can also output the nested plot to a file for
network plotting.
For raster plotters such as the DrawingMaster or the
Electrostatics, up to 4 nests will be placed in the same
plot to reduce paper usage.
ANSI standard borders can be added to the plots along with
the plot name, date, and time.
The nested plots can be outlined with a solid or dashed line
creating a cut line for separating the plots.

INSTALLATION
Step 1. Check the CalComp shipped diskette.
Insert the CalComp shipped diskette in Drive A or B. Type
DIR A: or B:. Check your diskette and compare the files with the
Section "List of Materials". Also read "System Requirements"
before you begin.
Step 2. Installing files to hard disk.
An install program is provided for installing BATCHPLT to your
hard-disk. The program will allow the user to select the drive
letter on which BATCHPLT will be installed. INSTALL will create
a sub-directory called \CALCOMP and copy an ADI driver, BATCHPLT
and all support files.
To execute INSTALL:
Make the CalComp supplied floppy the current drive by typing:
A: or B: and press enter
INSTALL and press enter
The install program will display an introduction and ask the user
to press any key to continue. Press a key.
Next the install program will ask which ADI driver to install.
There are two drivers available. CCP386 is a protected mode
driver to use with AutoCAD 386 Version 10 or 11. CCPADI is a
real mode driver to use with any version of AutoCAD. Use the up
or down arrow keys to highlight the required driver and press
return.
Next the install program will ask the user to select the hard
disk for installation. If multiply drives are available a list
of the available drive names will be displayed. Use the up or
down arrow keys to highlight the required hard disk and then
press return.
INSTALL will check for the existence of a sub-directory called
\CALCOMP on the selected hard drive. If the sub-directory exists
a warning message will be displayed and asks if the user wants to
continue.
INSTALL will copy all programs and supporting files to the hard
drive selected and in a sub-directory called \CALCOMP.

BATCHPLT OPERATIONS
BATCHPLT is a program used to batch plot drawings. It is assumed that
AutoCAD can plot drawings and operate the plotter before BATCHPLT is
executed. Make sure that you can plot using one of the CalComp
supplied ADI drivers (CCP386 or CCPADI 3.0) before operating BATCHPLT.
NOTE:
BATCHPLT is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) program that can
be operated with or without a mouse. With a mouse you select
the options to execute and 'Click' the left button. Without a
mouse use the keyboard and press the letter Capitalized within
the Menu or Button required.
To start BATCHPLT make the CALCOMP subdirectory the current directory
by typing from the DOS prompt:
cd /CALCOMP and press return
Then:
BATCHPLT and press return
At start-up, BATCHPLT requires knowledge about AutoCAD. It expects to
find an environment variable 'ACADCFG' which point to AutoCAD's
configuration file (ACAD.CFG). If ACAD.CFG can not be located,
BATCHPLT will ask you to tell it where it is.
Next BATCHPLT will look for AUTOCAD by searching the PATH environment
variable. If ACAD.EXE cannot be found BATCHPLT will ask you to tell
it where it is.
If the Protected mode driver (CCP386) is configured in ACAD.CFG,
BATCHPLT will look for another environment variable (PLPADI), which
points to the location of the protected mode ADI driver. If this
variable or CCP386.EXP cannot be found, BATCHPLT will display an
error message and then terminate.
If the Real mode driver (CCPADI 3.0) is configured in ACAD.CFG,
BATCHPLT will attempt to contact the driver to determine if it is
resident in memory and if it is the correct version. If either of the
above conditions are not met, BATCHPLT will display an error message
and then terminate.
When all the above conditions are met, BATCHPLT will begin.

NESTING
Nesting is the process of arranging plots on paper in an array
designed to save paper. BATCHPLT uses 'canned' nests based on D or E
paper size, roughly 24" X 36" or 36" X 48". The nesting feature
within BATCHPLT allows the user to select the drawing but not how they
are nested. EXAMPLE or an E size nest:
|-------------------------------------------------------|

PLOT
When all drawings have been selected and configured, it is time to
plot. If BATCHPLT will be driving the plotter directly, make sure it
is ready with paper, pens, etc. Start the plotting process by
selecting the 'Plot' menu item with the mouse and click the left
button or press 'P' on the keyboard.
The screen will clear and if nesting is active, BATCHPLT will tell you
the nest number and the number of plots per nest it intends to build.
BATCHPLT will then start up AutoCAD.
NOTE:
During the plotting process, if any support files such as shape
files, are not readily available, BATCHPLT will FAIL. If the
plotter is not ready or hangs, BATCHPLT will hang as well.
BATCHPLT is simply a tool to help in the batch plotting of
drawings. A lot of unknowns exist and any of them can cause
BATCHPLT to fail.
RESET
If BATCHPLT fails or hangs without completing all drawings selected,
it will be necessary to reset the ADI drivers. In order for the ADI
drivers (CCP386 or CCPADI 3.0) to work with BATCHPLT, they have to be
told beforehand. The ADI drivers will clear themselves if the Batch
of plots complete. If they do not complete, the ADI drivers will be
left in a state expecting BATCHPLT to be in control and will fail in
unknown ways if not RESET.
To Reset the ADI drivers, select the Reset menu item with mouse and
click the left button or press 'R' on the keyboard. A pop-up will
appear asking if you wish to reset the currently configured ADI
driver. Answer Yes or No.
QUIT
If you wish to exit the program without plotting, select the Quit menu
item with the mouse and click the left button or press 'Q' on the
keyboard. A prompt will appear asking if you really want to Quit.
Select Yes or No.
